Exemestane, sold under the trade name Aromasin, among others, is a medication used to treat breast cancer. It is a member of a class of antiestrogens known as aromatase inhibitors. Some types of breast cancer require estrogen to grow. These types of cancer have estrogen receptors (ER) and are called ER-positive. They may also be called estrogen-sensitive, hormone-sensitive, or hormone-receptor-positive. Aromatase is an enzyme that synthesizes estrogen. Aromatase inhibitors block the synthesis of estrogen. This lowers estrogen levels and slows the growth of the cancer.

In steroid cycles, Exemestane is considered a much better antiestrogen than the classic Tamoxifen and is a mandatory part of a steroid cycle with testosterone.
